New Report Identifies Dangerous Web domains

Friday, June 6th, 2008

You know how many sites end with .com or .net. Some sites end with .dk (Denmark), .se (Sweden) or .uk (England). Those domains are for the most part safe to surf (you should always be careful when surfing sites no matter what “last name” they have. But there are domains you should stay away from and McAfee has just released a new report telling about which to stay away from (but not limited to).

MonaRonaDona Virus

Monday, March 10th, 2008

You know I hate virus and those kind of nasty tricks on the net and today I got something for you that you really need to look out for. The new virus scam on the net is called “MonaRonaDona Virus” and it’s a nasty one.

Brian Brebs over at Washingtongpost.com posted this on his blog the other day “Online tech support forums are starting to light up over an increasing number of PCs sickened by something called the “MonaRonaDona virus,” a piece of malware that threatens to trash host computers. As it happens, MonaRonaDona appears to be a relatively innocuous invader that was created to scare people into purchasing a fake new anti-virus product.”

And that’s exactly what it does. It tries to make you download weird “antivirus” programs from the net (which you never should unless youk now the company such as Norton, Kaspersky and the other companies). So to put it short; It’s a disease sold as a cure, which I can assure you it’s not.

Fake Windows Update Via MySpace

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Here’s one you might wanna pay some attention to, especially if you’re using MySpace.

PC ADVISOR writes “Online criminals are trying to trick MySpace victims into downloading a malicious Trojan Horse by disguising it as a Microsoft update, according to researchers at security vendor McAfee. The attack is certainly not widespread - McAfee has seen it used on only one MySpace profile - but it does show how sites such as MySpace can be abused by criminals“.

Scan Your PC Online

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I have said this a thousand times. We check everything on worldsex.com, from top to bottom. We make sure everything we list is clean and good as gold. BUT there are other sites on the net (go figure ay?) and a lot of you guys don’t even use anti-virus software. So it’s likely that some of you guy something called “Zango” installed (how to remove Zango) or other nasty things that can potentially steal your credit card (and empty your bank account) when you use your credit card on the internet or monitor and tell other companies what kind of sites you visit or what kind of files you download.

So do yourself a big favour and clean your machine. F-secure has an ONLINE SCANNER which I suggest you use if you don’t have a fairly good anti-virus software. It all depends on how much you have on your PC. If you have a LOT it might take some time to scan and clean your PC. It would suck to see your bank account go “CLOSED” when you try to finish the last christmas shopping.

Storm Worm

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Your PC could very well be infected more than you wish. You see, right now more and more PCs are being infected with a worm named Storm Worm. It mainly comes from things you open in your mail and things you open on not so safe websites.

According to Wikipedia Storm Worm infected thousands of computers (mostly private) in Europe and the United States on Friday, January 19, 2007 using a topical e-mail message with the subject “230 dead as storm batters Europe. But it doesn’t stop there. Those behind the worm seem to build up a huge base of zombie computers just waiting to attack someone somewhere. Most likely large companies, the american goverment or Isreal’s goverment.

InformationWeek writes; the number of zombie computers the Storm worm authors have amassed has skyrocketed in the past two months, says SecureWorks senior researcher Joe Stewart. From the first of January to the end of May, there were 2,815 bots launching Storm attacks. By the end of July, that number had leaped to 1.7 million. “It’s been building with exponential growth,” says Stewart. “It’s one of the largest botnets I’ve ever heard of.”

I know many of you ask yourself “Am I infected?”. It’s very hard to figure out if you got infected if you run your PC without software to detect and remove virus. I know Symantec (Norton) denies it any access from the known versions of Storm Worm. F-secure (who named the worm in the first place) also has quite a bit about the subject.

Wikipedia has a link to MW-Blog. I haven’t tried it yet and I don’t know if I will. You should only begin working with these things if you’re 100% sure what you’re doing. Best thing you can do is to buy a piece of software to protect you PC. I know some of you say “well I have never been infected so why should I?”. If you don’t have software to detect it how can you be sure you’re not infected?

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Computer security researchers at SophosLabs™ are warning Internet surfers about an email (which of course is a scam) promising a trailer of the film “Pirates of the Caribbean 3″ and the chance of free tickets if you are in North America or Europe. DO NOT open the email.

It both under the subject “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End — The Official Trailer” and “Pirates of the Caribbean 3″ and one of the things this email does is to download a virus that will shut down all your enti-virus software.

CyberDefender - Free And Better

Monday, April 9th, 2007

One of our good friends sent me a tip yesterday. It’s about a fantastic piece of software that will help you keep your PC clean (which is more important than some of you might think judging by how many forget to use anti-virus software).

Cyber Defender Free is, as the name indicates, free and recently Sys-Con wrote “In the comparative review titled the “Security Super Guide,” PC Magazine reporter Neil J. Rubenking surveyed 20 security software, spyware, virus applications and suites. In the study, CyberDefenderFREE(TM) 2.0 scored higher at removing spyware than companies such as McAfee, Grisoft (AVG), and Trend-Micro PC-cillin and scored the same as Windows Live OneCare.”

USA Today has been praising it as well. “Even though I didn’t choose to activate all the package’s components — you can do that; it’s quite easily configurable, with a clean dashboard and installation process — CyberDefenderFREE kept the whining to a minimum and refrained from trying to upsell me at every turn. (Hear that, McAfee? It’s a swell approach. Try it.)”

Do yourself a favour. Protect your PC.

I’m not saying you should use this or that but you must use something. Cyber Defender Free (Yes it’s free) is a good place to start. If you think the net is full of happy hippies from the 70s you’re wrong. There are still some hippies but a LOT of sites do the best they can to install malware/virus on your PC without you know it.

Nasty Worm Poses As Internet Explorer

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

There’s a new worm out and you should NOT download it. The internet security company has warned email users of a widespread malicious attack that poses as an invitation from Microsoft to download a beta version of Internet Explorer 7.0.

According to Sophos the emails, which claim to come from admin@microsoft.com and have the subject line “Internet Explorer 7 Downloads”, display an image which invites users to download beta 2 of Internet Explorer 7. However, users who click on the image will download a file called ie7.0.exe which is infected by the W32/Grum-A worm.

So be very careful about what you open in your inbox. A large amount of what you get is either spam or malicious software. You would be surprised how many people get infected with all these things just because they don’t seem to think twice.

Security Warning

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Some adult sites (NOT us) has started using a new advertising. It’s a pop up window that suddenly pops when you visit various blogs and similar sites. The window tells you that your PC is not protected well enough (which is completely bullshit) and you should download and install some software to protect your PC. IF you download the suggested software you could easily end up losing everything you have on your PC.

DO NOT install any of those things.

McAfee Showing The Countries To Avoid.

Friday, March 16th, 2007

We’ve been saying it for years on Worldsex.com; Be careful when you surf sites and protect your PC. We work very hard on keeping all our sites clean and so far we have been very successful. However, a lot of sites (and not only adult sites) really don’t care about you. The more shit they can make you download the better for them. You see, some of the stuff they secretly get you to download can monitor everything you do. Like typing in your credit card number.

McAfee apparently also had enough of all the bullshit so they have made a world map where you can see which countries to avoid (doesn’t come as a surprise to many that Russian and Romania has been declared the worst domains/sites to visit).

Sadly McAfee hasn’t mapped countries in Africa where phising is a huge problem.

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Some surfers have recently had problems with different adult sites and eventhough we do our very best to keep everything free of malicious software there are always people trying to bypass our security. If you in any way have had problems opening pictures, movies, ect. please let me know and I will do everything I can to stop it.

The recent problems some surfers has involve being redirected to domains you never wanted to enter in the first place. I have no idea if you experience those problems here but if you do please let me know.

Enter below and send me a description of your problem when browsing worldsex.com or blog.worldsex.com.
