Security Warning
March 30th, 2007
Some adult sites (NOT us) has started using a new advertising. It’s a pop up window that suddenly pops when you visit various blogs and similar sites. The window tells you that your PC is not protected well enough (which is completely bullshit) and you should download and install some software to protect your PC. IF you download the suggested software you could easily end up losing everything you have on your PC.
DO NOT install any of those things.
If you want a virus scanner/anti virus program I suggest the following:
Norton from Symantec (I use this one)
Windows Defender made by Microsoft (Got it as backup)
Kaspersky (Tried it and it’s very good)
McAfee (Tried it and it has been around for ages)
BullGuard (Many companies use this)
I use SpywareBlaster to prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software. I also use Ad-Aware (which is also free to use and download) that has the ability to scan your RAM, Registry, hard drives, and external storage devices for known data-mining, advertising, and tracking components.
