Security Tips on ErrorSafe

June 7th, 2006

I want to take a minute today to inform you a bit more about what you can meet on the net right now. Lately I’ve been hit quite a few times by something called “ErrorSafe” which tries to make things look like you’re in great danger on the net. It normally pops when you’re surfing more general humor sites like Daves Daily and similar sites (but not limited to humor sites only).

The thing that will pop on your screen is advertising trying to fool you into downloading and buying a “virus scanner”. Now ask yourself; would any serious virus scanner use these kind of tactics on the net? Have you ever seen Norton, McAfee or Kaspersky trying to fool you into believing that your PC was already infected by popping things you almost can’t close again?

I highly suggest you just close the windows (both the warning window and their homepage) by clicking the X in the right upper corner and go for one of the well known programs like Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky. If you stick to those security programs your PC will be much safer than those without and you MUST use a virus scanner when surfing the internet.
